How did the Hundred Years War start?

The Hundred Years' War started when the French king, King Charles, died. being his closest male relative, Edward III of England thought that he should be the rightful heir to the throne. But Edward III was a man from England and the French people didn't want a foreigner to rule over their land. Edward III sailed with about 200 ships to France. That is how the Hundred Years' War started.

This is a picture of the war between the French and the English people.
